Fire Extinguished at S-Oil Refinery in Ulsan Without Casualties

ULSAN — A fire that erupted early Sunday morning at an S-Oil Corp plant in Ulsan was successfully extinguished within five hours, according to fire department officials. The incident, which started at approximately 4:47 a.m., did not result in any casualties.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the blaze broke out in a heating facility used for producing xylene, a chemical compound used as a solvent. Photos from the scene showed dense flames, prompting the deployment of fifty-six vehicles and about 300 personnel who worked to control and eventually extinguish the fire. Authorities are currently investigating the precise cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damage. Initial reports confirm that no harmful substances were detected in the surrounding area after the fire was put out.
