Chateauroux - South Korean shooters Oh Ye-jin and Kim Ye-ji achieved a historic one-two finish in the women's 10-meter air pistol event at the Paris Olympics, with Oh setting a new Olympic record.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Oh scored a record 243.2 points, narrowly edging out Kim by 1.9 points, while India's Manu Bhaker secured the bronze with 221.7 points. Oh's performance broke the previous Olympic record of 240.3 set by Russia's Vitalina Batsarashkina in 2021, marking a significant milestone in her Olympic debut. This victory brings South Korea's total to two golds in the current Olympics, adding to their silver in the mixed team event earlier in the games.
The final round began with each shooter taking ten shots in two series, where Oh took an early lead. The competition intensified during the elimination rounds, where the lead alternated between Oh and Kim, showcasing their exceptional skills and focus under pressure. In a dramatic conclusion, Oh clinched the gold with a final shot score of 10.6, while Kim secured silver with a last-shot score of 10.5 after a tense stand-off with Bhaker for the second position.
