Paris - South Korean sabre fencer Oh Sang-uk has clinched his first individual Olympic gold medal, a triumphant victory at the Grand Palais in Paris during the Summer Olympic Games.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the 27-year-old Oh dominated the competition, defeating Tunisia's Fares Ferjani with a score of 15-11 in the final match. This victory marks a significant milestone for Oh, who had previously fallen short in individual Olympic events, despite his impressive record in team competitions and world championships. The win not only fills a notable gap in his already distinguished career but also establishes him as the first South Korean male sabre fencer to achieve an Olympic gold medal in this category.
