PARIS – South Korea's Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin won the bronze medal in mixed doubles table tennis at the Paris Olympics, marking the nation's first Olympic table tennis medal in over a decade.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the duo achieved a decisive 4-0 victory against Hong Kong's Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem at the South Paris Arena 4. This victory not only earned Lim and Shin their first Olympic medals but also ended South Korea's 12-year wait for an Olympic table tennis medal. The pair had previously been defeated by China's top-seeded Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha in the semifinals, setting up their bronze medal match.
The match against Hong Kong showcased dominant performances from the South Korean team in each game. Starting strong, Lim and Shin quickly took control of the match, securing an early lead in the first game. Despite a more competitive fourth game, where the Hong Kong pair briefly took the lead, Lim and Shin managed to reclaim control and secure the win, finalizing their victory with a critical point following Wong's errant return.
