Chateauroux, France - South Korea narrowly missed securing its fifth medal in shooting at the Paris Olympics, following a defeat in the bronze medal match of the 10-meter air pistol mixed team event on Tuesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, representing South Korea, were bested by India's Sarabjot Singh and Manu Bhaker with a score of 16-10 at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre. The match format awarded two points to the team with the higher score from single-shot exchanges, with ties earning each team one point. The objective was to reach 16 points first. Despite a strong start leading 2-0, Lee and Oh struggled to regain the lead, with Lee particularly finding difficulty, scoring consecutively in the 9s range. A critical moment came when they could not close the point gap, ultimately concluding the match with scores of 9.5 and 9.0, respectively.
This event followed Oh's gold medal win in the women's 10m air pistol and Lee's fourth-place finish in the men's individual event earlier in the games. Despite Tuesday's setback, South Korea's shooting team has made significant strides compared to its performance in Tokyo 2021, having already secured two golds and two silvers in the early days of the competition in Paris.
