Seoul - A civilian official in South Korea's military intelligence command has been arrested under suspicion of leaking sensitive information about undercover agents, the defense ministry disclosed on Tuesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the court issued an arrest warrant for the official, who is accused of passing personal details of South Korean espionage agents, known as 'black agents', to a Korean-descent Chinese national. These agents operate covertly overseas, primarily focused on missions related to North Korea. The official, whose identity remains confidential, allegedly transferred classified data from the Korea Defense Intelligence Command’s computers to his personal laptop, which then ended up with the third party. Military authorities are investigating the possibility that this information could have been relayed to North Korea's Reconnaissance General Bureau. The official has denied the allegations, claiming his laptop was hacked, adding a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation.
