GUYANCOURT — PGA Tour star Tom Kim sustained his pursuit of an Olympic medal with a consistent performance in the men’s golf tournament at the Paris Olympics, completing his third under-par round on Saturday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim carded a two-under 69 at Le Golf National, with four birdies and two bogeys in his round. This puts him at a total of 10-under after 54 holes, four strokes behind the co-leaders, defending champion Xander Schauffele of the United States and former world No. 1 Jon Rahm of Spain.
In his first Olympic appearance, Kim is tied with current world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, also from the United States, and Rory McIlroy, the Northern Irish star representing Ireland and a former world No. 1 with four major championships to his name.
Another South Korean golfer, An Byeong-hun, is also making strides in the tournament, tied for 17th at seven-under after shooting a 66 in the third round. An's round was highlighted by an impressive series of eight birdies through the first 11 holes, although his momentum was disrupted by a double bogey on the 13th and a bogey on the 17th.
This tournament marks An Byeong-hun’s second Olympic appearance, his best being an 11th-place finish at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics—the highest finish by a South Korean male golfer in the Olympics to date.
