Police Question Taxi Driver in Drunk Driving Incident Involving Former President Moon Jae-in’s Daughter

SEOUL: Police have interrogated the taxi driver involved in a drunk-driving accident caused by Moon Da-hye, the daughter of former South Korean President Moon Jae-in. Despite questioning the driver, authorities have yet to schedule a date for questioning Moon Da-hye. According to Yonhap News Agency, officials from the National Police Agency, the taxi driver, who is considered a victim in this case, was questioned last Wednesday. The police are awaiting a medical diagnosis report from the driver before deciding on the charges against Moon Da-hye. She has been booked for investigation following the accident, which occurred in Seoul's Itaewon district early on October 5. Reports indicate that her blood alcohol concentration was 0.14 percent, well above the legal limit of 0.08 percent, which is the threshold for driver's license revocation in South Korea. Moon Da-hye had initially planned to appear for questioning last Monday but postponed her appearance. The police are still in the process of arranging a new d ate for her questioning. Cho Ji-ho, the commissioner-general of the National Police Agency, emphasized that the suspect would be investigated at the police station responsible for the case, which is the Yongsan Police Station. He also addressed concerns about the location of the questioning during a recent parliamentary meeting, clarifying that measures would be taken to secure the entryway if necessary, to prevent any issues caused by large gatherings. For now, police have not indicated any need to change the location for questioning or to make any exceptions to their usual procedures.
