Heavy Rainfall Postpones Second Round of BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea

PAJU: The second round of the BMW Ladies Championship, a significant event in the LPGA tour held annually in South Korea, was postponed on Friday due to severe rain. The round at Seowon Hills at Seowon Valley Country Club, located northwest of Seoul in Gyeonggi Province, was halted at 1:05 p.m., and approximately 40 minutes later, the decision was made to postpone the event until Saturday owing to the unplayable conditions on the course. According to Yonhap News Agency, the tournament, which is the only LPGA event hosted in South Korea each fall, saw its gameplay disrupted by weather just as the final group, consisting of Hannah Green from Australia, Ashleigh Buhai from South Africa, and Jenny Shin from South Korea, completed the first nine holes. At the time of suspension, Green led the scoreboard at 12-under after scoring four birdies on the front nine. Buhai was trailing by two, while Shin was tied for third place at eight-under, alongside Lydia Ko, the world No. 3 and reigning Olympic champion. The LPGA announced that the second round is scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. on Saturday, and the third round will start at 9:48 a.m. without any changes to the pairings. Noteworthy among other competitors, Minjee Lee, the defending champion from Australia, was one-over through 13 holes for the round and stood at four-under overall. This 72-hole tournament, boasting a prize pool of US$2 million, features 78 players and does not implement a cut.
