Heavy Rain Delays Second Round of BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea

PAJU: The second round of the BMW Ladies Championship, held at Seowon Valley Country Club, was postponed on Friday due to severe rain, disrupting the schedule of the only LPGA tournament in South Korea this fall. According to Yonhap News Agency, the competition was stopped at 1:05 p.m. at Seowon Hills, located in Paju, northwest of Seoul in Gyeonggi Province. Organizers, facing unplayable conditions on the course, delayed the continuation of the round to Saturday after about a 40-minute assessment. The leading group, including Hannah Green of Australia, Ashleigh Buhai of South Africa, and Jenny Shin of South Korea, had just completed the first nine holes when the decision was made. Green, who led the trio with a score of 12-under after achieving four birdies on the front nine, was followed by Buhai at 10-under, and Shin, tied with three others including Lydia Ko, the world No. 3 and reigning Olympic champion, at 8-under. The tournament, which does not feature a cut, will resume early Saturday with the secon d round, followed by the third. This 72-hole event boasts a prize fund of US$2 million and features 78 competitors.
