This marked the first time a postseason game has been halted in the history of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO). According to Yonhap News Agency, the matchup between the Kia Tigers and the Samsung Lions at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field was interrupted at 9:24 p.m. The Lions were ahead 1-0 in the top of the sixth inning with two runners on base and batter Kim Young-woong facing a 1-0 count when play was stopped. After deliberations, officials suspended the game at 10:09 p.m. The game is set to continue at 4 p.m. on Tuesday from the exact moment it was halted. Should the game conclude by 5:30 p.m., Game 2 will proceed at 6:30 p.m. as initially planned. If it extends beyond 5:30 p.m., the second game will commence one hour after the first game's conclusion. The day's proceedings began with a delay, as intermittent rain pushed the st art time back by about an hour, with the first pitch eventually thrown at 7:36 p.m. The grounds crew had to deploy the tarp multiple times before and during the game, to the cheers of the hopeful sellout crowd of 19,300 fans. The weather added drama to the night, with the skies reopening during the early and middle innings. The Lions had just taken a one-run lead thanks to Kim Hun-gon's solo homer in the sixth, shortly before the decision to suspend the game was made. With more rain predicted for Tuesday, there is a possibility that the completion of the suspended game could be further delayed, potentially not resuming until Wednesday.
