Gwangju: The Korean Series has faced further disruptions as inclement weather forced the postponement of postseason games between the Samsung Lions and the Kia Tigers. The decision made by the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) to delay Game 1, originally scheduled to resume Tuesday, has prompted managers to prioritize player safety and optimal playing conditions. According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung Lions manager Park Jin-man expressed concerns about the playing conditions after Game 1 was suspended on Monday night at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field. With the Lions leading 1-0 in the sixth inning, the game was halted due to heavy rain. Park criticized the decision to start the game despite forecasts of severe weather, emphasizing the risk of injury on the wet field. Park noted the fortunate outcome that no players were injured during the game and highlighted the importance of ensuring safe conditions for upcoming matches. The KBO decided to reschedule both Game 1 and Game 2 for Wednesday, citing the need fo r hours of field preparation and further rain forecasts in Gwangju. This decision follows a series of weather-related delays in the postseason, including in the Lions' previous round against the LG Twins. Both managers, Park Jin-man and Kia Tigers' Lee Bum-ho, agreed on the necessity of adapting to the weather conditions without letting them impact the teams' performances. They stressed the significance of maintaining player safety over potential strategic advantages from delays. Despite the postponement, fans witnessed a strong performance from both teams' starting pitchers on Monday. Samsung's Won Tae-in and Kia's James Naile impressed with their pitching skills, with Won allowing only two hits in five innings and Naile striking out six before conceding a home run. Both pitchers are expected to return for Game 4, thanks to the additional rest provided by the delays. With the series set to continue under adjusted schedules, both teams are preparing to adapt to the evolving situation while keeping player w elfare at the forefront of their strategies.
