Seoul: The Korea Interbank Offered Rates (KORIBOR) exhibited stability across most terms in the latest session, with minor fluctuations observed in the 1-month and 12-month rates. The rates, which are a critical benchmark for lending and borrowing activities in the South Korean financial market, provide insight into the current state of liquidity and interest rate expectations. According to Yonhap News Agency, the 1-week, 2-month, 3-month, and 6-month KORIBOR rates remained unchanged from the previous session, standing at 3.25%, 3.35%, 3.40%, and 3.36% respectively. These steady rates suggest a consistent outlook among financial institutions regarding short to medium-term lending conditions. The 1-month KORIBOR rate saw a slight decrease, moving from 3.31% in the previous session to 3.30%. This minor change indicates a slight easing in short-term lending conditions. In contrast, the 12-month rate experienced a marginal increase, rising from 3.20% to 3.21%, reflecting a slight adjustment in the long-term int erest rate expectations. The stability in most of the KORIBOR rates underscores a period of relative calm in the South Korean financial markets, with institutions maintaining steady expectations for future interest rates and economic conditions.
