Ticketing System Error Disrupts Bus Terminals Nationwide

SEOUL: A major malfunction of the Tmoney smart ticketing system caused significant delays at bus terminals across the country on Sunday, creating substantial inconvenience for travelers. According to Yonhap News Agency, the Tmoney ticketing network experienced a system error at 1:06 p.m., which persisted for approximately two hours. This disruption affected online ticketing operations at about 140 bus terminals nationwide, including the Seoul Express Bus Terminal in southern Seoul. Tmoney Co., the operator of the smart transportation cards, has announced efforts to devise compensation measures for the affected consumers. The company is actively investigating the root cause of the system failure, while the transportation ministry is also conducting its own inquiry into the incident. This incident follows a similar disruption in October 2021, when the Tmoney network system error led to ticketing issues at the Seoul bus terminal.
