Busan Mayor Discusses Potential Direct Flight Route to Warsaw with Polish President

BUSAN: In a move aimed at bolstering international connectivity and economic exchange, Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon has proposed the possibility of establishing a direct flight route between Busan and Warsaw. This proposal was made during a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda at Gimhae International Airport in Busan, as confirmed by the mayor's office on Sunday. According to Yonhap News Agency, the discussion took place last Friday, with both leaders expressing optimism about the potential benefits of such a direct connection. President Duda highlighted the increased opportunities for both tourists and investors that could arise from an additional direct flight route between South Korea and Poland. Mayor Park echoed this sentiment, stating, "A Busan-Warsaw direct flight route could be established in the future," emphasizing the potential for expanded exchanges and cooperation. Currently, South Korea's main international airport, Incheon International Airport, offers direct flights to only two cities i n Poland-Warsaw and Wroclaw. Wroclaw hosts manufacturing facilities for major South Korean companies like LG Electronics Inc. and LG Energy Solution Ltd., highlighting the industrial ties between the two nations. President Duda's visit to South Korea included summit talks with President Yoon Suk Yeol and a tour of prominent South Korean defense companies in Changwon. The discussions with Mayor Park represent a continued effort to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Poland and South Korea through enhanced transportation links and economic collaboration.
