Police Secure CCTV Footage in Probe of Moon Jae-in’s Daughter’s Alleged Illegal House-Sharing Business

SEOUL: Police have obtained CCTV footage from a studio apartment owned by the daughter of former President Moon Jae-in, as they investigate allegations of an illegal house-sharing operation. The inquiry is focused on whether Moon Da-hye conducted this business without the necessary official declaration, law enforcement officials stated on Monday. According to Yonhap News Agency, the ongoing investigation targets Moon Da-hye's activities regarding her properties, including a studio apartment in Seoul's Yeongdeungpo district and a house on Jeju Island. Authorities are examining whether these properties were used for house sharing without the required compliance with the Public Health Control Act. This law mandates that owners of "officetel" studio apartments must file a declaration with the district office and equip their properties appropriately for such operations. Woo Jong-soo, head of the National Office of Investigation, confirmed that the CCTV footage is being analyzed to ascertain if guests were presen t and if the apartment was functioning as a hospitality venue. Depending on the findings, the police will decide on the necessity of formally booking Moon for further investigation and whether an in-person interrogation is warranted. In a related incident earlier this month, Moon was questioned by police following an alleged drunk driving accident. Her vehicle collided with a taxi while changing lanes in Seoul's Itaewon district on October 5. Her blood alcohol concentration registered at 0.14 percent, surpassing the 0.08 percent threshold that leads to driver's license revocation.
