Seoul: Prosecutors have demanded a one-year prison term for Moon Da-hye, the daughter of former President Moon Jae-in, over charges of drunk driving and illegally operating an Airbnb business. Moon is accused of causing a vehicular accident in Seoul's Itaewon district last October when she attempted to change lanes and collided with a taxi. Her blood alcohol concentration at the time was recorded at 0.149 percent, significantly above the 0.08 percent legal limit for license revocation.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Moon Da-hye is also facing accusations of running an unregistered Airbnb business across three locations in Seoul's Yeongdeungpo district and on Jeju Island. During the first hearing at the Seoul Western District Court, prosecutors presented their case by highlighting the elevated alcohol level during the incident and the earnings of 136 million won (approximately US$93,000) accrued over five years from the illegal accommodation operations.
In her defense, Moon admitted to her mistakes during the court proceedings, expressing remorse and a commitment to not repeat her actions. She appealed to the court for leniency, acknowledging her faults and reflecting on the consequences of her actions.
