According to Yonhap News Agency, Im Sung-jae currently leads the South Korean contingent in the FedEx Cup standings at 16th place, following a commendable tie for fifth at the Masters. Kim Si-woo, ranked 41st, has shown consistent performance with three top-20 finishes, although his only top-10 result this year was at the RBC Heritage. An Byeong-hun, positioned 66th, and Tom Kim, at 81st, are both seeking to elevate their standings, with Tom Kim hoping to overcome recent challenges.
The South Korean golfers aim to emulate the success of Yang Yong-eun, the sole major champion from South Korea, who claimed victory at the 2009 PGA Championship. They will face formidable opponents, including Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, and Rory McIlroy. Thomas, fresh from a win at the RBC Heritage, seeks his third PGA Championship title. Schauffele, the defending champion, and McIlroy, who recently completed the Career Grand Slam, will also be strong contenders at Quail Hollow.
