Kia Partners with IIT Tirupati to Foster Local Talent, Strengthen Future Mobility in India

Seoul: Kia Corp. announced a partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Tirupati focused on fostering local engineering talent and enhancing future mobility capabilities in India. This collaboration aims to build educational infrastructure and launch internships to support the development of skills in the South Asian nation.

According to Yonhap News Agency, under the memorandum of understanding signed on Friday, the South Korean automaker will invest 350 million rupees (US$4.1 million) over the next five years. This investment will facilitate the introduction of automotive industry-focused academic courses and promote joint research projects between academia and the industry.

A significant element of this initiative is the establishment of the Makers Laboratory, a state-of-the-art research facility dedicated to prototyping, designing, and development. This space is expected to play a crucial role in the collaboration between Kia Corp. and IIT Tirupati.

"We aim to cultivate engineers and technicians who will lead in the field of sustainable mobility and manufacturing sectors by collaborating with IIT Tirupati," said Lee Gwang-gu, executive vice president and head of Kia India.
