Portrush: Im Sung-jae, the sole South Korean golfer to make the cut, has advanced up the leaderboard at the Open Championship with his first under-par round of the week at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland. According to Yonhap News Agency, Im carded a four-under 67 in the third round, bringing his total to four-under for the tournament through 54 holes. He currently shares the 22nd position in a seven-way tie. Im began the tournament with two rounds of even-par 71. During the third round, Im recorded five birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, adding another birdie on the back nine. His score of 67 was the third-best of the day, with 36 players managing to break 70, compared to only 17 in the opening round. Im is now aiming for a second consecutive top-10 finish at the Open Championship, having tied for seventh place at last year's event at Royal Troon. The other five South Korean golfers in the field at Royal Portrush did not make the cut. Meanwhile, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler leads the tournament at 14-under after also shooting a 67. He holds a four-stroke lead over Li Haotong as he seeks his fourth major title and second in 2025, following his PGA Championship win in May.
