Hyundai Motor Partners with Singapore to Advance Mobility Solutions

Gyeongju: Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea’s leading carmaker, has announced a strategic partnership with Singapore’s science and technology agency, aiming to collaborate on advanced mobility solutions. The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed on Friday during the K-Tech Showcase event, which took place in the southeastern city of Gyeongju alongside the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the partnership involves Hyundai and Singapore’s Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX), a research entity established in 2019 under Singapore’s internal affairs ministry. HTX focuses on developing advanced technologies in public safety, border security, chemical and biological defense, and security systems.

The agreement outlines plans for joint research on robotics, hydrogen, and other future mobility technologies. Hyundai is set to implement a pilot project for technology demonstrations aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of Singapore’s government fleet. This initiative will utilize Hyundai’s multipurpose modular electric platform through 2028, marking the first such mobility technology demonstration with Singapore’s government-operated fleet.

Hyundai expects the project to play a crucial role in Singapore’s transition to electric vehicles (EVs) and contribute to the establishment of sustainable transportation infrastructure. The carmaker intends to support vehicle development technologies and directly supply vehicles for operations through its partnerships with HTX and the Hyundai Group’s innovation center in Singapore.

“We will continue to lead global innovation based on future technologies, including robotics and hydrogen, while conducting mobility technology demonstrations through this partnership,” stated Kim Il-bum, executive vice president of Hyundai Motor’s global policy office.
