LIV Golf Team Renamed as Korean Golf Club Highlighting Korean Influence

New york: Iron Heads Golf Club, a LIV Golf team led by South Korean-born players, has been renamed Korean Golf Club for the upcoming season.

According to Yonhap News Agency, LIV Golf, a breakaway tour backed by Saudi Arabia, announced the rebranding from New York, stating that it "reflects Korea's growing influence on global golf culture."

"At the heart of Korean Golf Club's brand is an emphasis on honor, inclusivity and collective strength," LIV Golf mentioned in a statement. The club draws inspiration from the Korean concept of brotherhood, focusing on respect, trust, and guidance within close relationships. This rebrand celebrates unity, togetherness, and the connective power of golf.

LIV Golf monitors both individual and team standings, with each team comprising a captain and three other members. In 2025, Korean American Kevin Na captained Iron Heads Golf Club, accompanied by Danny Lee, a Korean-born Kiwi; Jang Yu-bin, the first South Korean national to participate in LIV Golf; and Jinichiro Kozuma from Japan.

In the previous season, Iron Heads finished last among 13 teams, and Jang lost his spot after finishing in 53rd place, which was within the "drop zone" where only the top 48 players retain their spots for the next year. Kim Si-woo, a four-time PGA Tour winner from South Korea, was linked to LIV Golf in December but refuted these rumors by committing to the PGA Tour's Sony Open scheduled for this week.

The Korean Golf Club has yet to announce any new player signings, but it might add a South Korean national to fill Jang's spot before the new season starts on February 7 in Riyadh. The club also introduced its new logo featuring "Baekho," or the white tiger, and the rose of Sharon, or "mugunghwa," South Korea's national flower, within its roundel.

LIV Golf described the white tiger as "a revered figure in Korean history and folklore symbolizing strength, protection, and resilience," while the rose of Sharon "represents Korea's resilient spirit and enduring beauty." Launched in 2022, LIV Golf held its inaugural South Korean tournament in May 2025 at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon. While earlier reports hinted at a return to South Korea on May 29-31, 2026, the tour's official website currently does not list a South Korean stop or any tournament in that late May window.

LIV Golf announced that two additional venues for the 2026 season will be revealed later.
