Seoul: The main opposition People Power Party (PPP) announced Thursday the expulsion of former party chief Han Dong-hoon. This decision comes after Han's family's involvement in posting defamatory comments about former President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife on a party bulletin board.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the PPP's supreme council finalized Han's expulsion approximately two weeks after the party's ethics committee recommended his removal. The committee cited Han's conduct as damaging to the party's image. The controversy stems from derogatory comments aimed at Yoon, removed from office after his failed declaration of martial law in December 2024, and his wife, Kim Keon Hee, which were posted on the PPP's website.
Han Dong-hoon has publicly apologized for the incident but remains defiant, describing the ethics committee's expulsion decision as "politically motivated."
