Changwon: Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan visited Changwon, a major defense and shipbuilding industry hub in the southeast, on Friday to review ways to advance the city's industrial capabilities through artificial intelligence (AI), his office said.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim visited the city, some 380 kilometers southeast of Seoul, as part of a national tour aimed at promoting regional growth outside of the capital region. The minister met with representatives of companies located in local industrial complexes in the South Gyeongsang Province city participating in AI transformation in manufacturing and discussed measures to facilitate advancements.
Discussions centered on ways to help local companies achieve sustainable growth amid intensifying global competition, according to the ministry. The ministry also signed a memorandum of understanding with Changwon National University to create a cooperation platform among industry, academia, and research institutions for AI transformation of industrial complexes.
