Wildfire Reignites in Southeastern Gyeongju, Threatening Further Damage

Gyeongju: A wildfire reignited in the southeastern city of Gyeongju, authorities said Sunday, just two hours after the main blaze was brought under control. The fire, which initially broke out on a hillside in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, on Saturday evening, was extinguished nearly 20 hours later on Sunday after scorching 54 hectares of land.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the blaze reignited on parts of the hillside at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters were already on the scene, working diligently to completely extinguish the remaining embers when the fire flared up once more.

Efforts are currently underway to prevent the fire from spreading further. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation, as the potential for additional damage remains a significant concern.
