South korea: South Korea has confirmed a new case of highly pathogenic avian influenza at a duck farm in North Gyeongsang Province, bringing the number of reported cases this season to 43, officials said Wednesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the latest case was detected at the farm in Seongju, about 215 kilometers southeast of Seoul. The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters has reported that authorities have restricted access to the farm, begun culling the ducks, and are currently investigating the case.
The officials have also issued temporary standstill orders on relevant facilities and farming vehicles in the affected areas. The government plans to conduct intensive inspections and disease-control checks at layer chicken and duck farms by February 20.
