Ottawa: South Korea and Canada are gearing up to engage in their "two plus two" talks involving the foreign and defense ministers in Ottawa next week. The discussions aim to explore avenues for strengthening their bilateral relations, as announced by Seoul's foreign ministry on Friday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the talks are slated for Wednesday and will be succeeded by the signing of a joint military and defense intelligence-sharing pact. A press conference will follow the discussions, providing insights into the outcomes of the meeting.
In addition to the joint talks, South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun is scheduled to conduct separate bilateral discussions with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand. These talks will take place on the sidelines of next week's meeting.
The last instance of these "two plus two" talks among top foreign and defense officials from South Korea and Canada occurred in Ottawa in November 2024.
