Rose: Rose's "APT." has topped the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) Global Single Chart 2025, the organization representing the global recording industry said Friday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the chart unveiled Sunday (U.S. time) showed that the global hit by the BLACKPINK member and Bruno Mars was the biggest-selling single of last year. The IFPI noted the significance of this achievement, as it marks the first time the Global Single Chart has been led by an artist from outside North America or Europe. Additionally, the song's success highlights a trend towards non-English lyrics, illustrating the global nature of recorded music and the efforts of labels in overcoming language and market barriers.
The song "APT." is closely followed by "Golden" from Netflix's animated film "KPop Demon Hunters." The IFPI Global Single Chart takes into account global consumption of a song, including single-track downloads and streams on both free and paid platforms.
