Washington: U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that U.S. efforts to address Iran's nuclear ambitions will communicate clear intentions, responding to North Korea's criticism of the ongoing U.S. military operation against Iran.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Hegseth made these statements during a press briefing about the military operation, codenamed "Operation Epic Fury," which began in coordination with Israel on Saturday. He clarified that actions concerning Iran are independent of other nations' situations, emphasizing the focus on Iran's nuclear goals and the international implications of the operation.
Hegseth stated, "As it pertains to other countries ... they don't really bear on the case of Iran. We're going to deal with Iran's nuclear ambitions, and that will send plenty of signals in the process." His comments come after North Korea's condemnation on Sunday, where Pyongyang labeled the U.S.-Israel military campaign against Iran as "unlawful" and a breach of sovereignty.
