Seoul: Kia Corp.'s first purpose-built vehicle, the all-electric Kia PV5 Cargo, topped South Korea's commercial vehicle sales in February, industry data showed Friday. Kia sold 3,607 units of the PV5 in the domestic market last month, supported by government subsidies and customizable options.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the PV5 was launched in the domestic market in June last year, with 2,642 units sold in 2025. February sales alone have already surpassed last year's total. It marks the first time a pure electric model has become the bestselling vehicle in the local commercial vehicle market.
The PV5 Cargo also received the highest five-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Program in December. The model earned high marks across major assessment categories for commercial vans, including driving safety, crash avoidance, and post-crash protection.
