Government to Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Foreign Delivery Riders

Seoul: The government is set to launch an intensive crackdown targeting foreigners who are working illegally as delivery riders, as announced by the Ministry of Justice. This initiative, which will run for two months until April 30, aims to address the increasing cases of illegal employment within South Korea's delivery industry. Foreigners found to be in violation will face fines and potential deportation.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the surge in illegal activities, including foreigners driving motorcycles without licenses, has become a pressing social issue. There have been reports of foreign students borrowing Korean identities to register on delivery platforms, further complicating the situation.

The Ministry of Justice has also stated that individuals who allow their delivery platform accounts to be used by foreigners illegally will be reported to the police and relevant authorities. A ministry official emphasized the government's commitment to safeguarding employment opportunities for Korean citizens and maintaining order for foreign residents by targeting illegal employment in the delivery sector.
