Police Arrest South Korean Man for Bomb Threat Against U.S. Airport

Seoul: Police said Tuesday they have apprehended a South Korean man on suspicion of posting a threat to bomb a U.S. airport last year. The 20-something man allegedly posted the threat on the website of a Detroit airport on March 20 after getting angry with airport authorities during a visit there.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the post prompted local and federal police to launch a search for explosives. In January, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations requested the cooperation of South Korean police.

The suspect was caught after police secured related evidence during a raid on his home earlier this month. He has been referred to the prosecution on charges of making public threats, police said.
