Seoul: Renault Korea Motors Co., the South Korean arm of France's Renault S.A., reported a 9 percent increase in March sales compared to the previous year, attributed to strong demand for hybrid models, prominently featuring the newly launched Filante sport utility vehicle (SUV).
According to Yonhap News Agency, the company sold a total of 8,996 vehicles in March, up from 8,256 units in the same month last year. Domestic sales saw an 8.4 percent rise, reaching 6,630 units, driven by the popularity of hybrid models, which represented over 90 percent of local sales.
The Filante SUV, debuting in the market in March, significantly contributed to these figures with 4,920 units sold domestically. Additionally, exports increased by 10.6 percent from the previous year, totaling 2,366 units in March.
Despite the positive performance in March, Renault Korea's sales from January to March experienced an 8.5 percent decrease year-on-year, amounting to 16,620 units. Domestic sales during this period dropped by 20.1 percent to 10,868 units, whereas exports saw a substantial increase of 25.8 percent, reaching 5,752 units.
