Confirmation Hearing for South Korea’s Central Bank Nominee Scheduled for April 15

Seoul: The confirmation hearing for Shin Hyun-song, the nominee for South Korea's central bank governor, is set to take place next week, according to officials. Shin has been nominated to lead the Bank of Korea, succeeding the current Governor Rhee Chang-yong, whose term concludes later this month.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the National Assembly's Finance, Economy, Planning and Budget Committee will conduct Shin's confirmation hearing on April 15. Shin, who previously served as the head of the Monetary and Economic Department at the Bank for International Settlements, was selected by President Lee Jae Myung last month for this pivotal role.

While Shin's appointment requires a parliamentary confirmation hearing, it does not necessitate endorsement by the National Assembly, indicating a streamlined process for his potential succession.
