North Korea Launches Multiple Ballistic Missiles Towards East Sea

Seoul: North Korea fired multiple ballistic missiles toward the East Sea on Sunday, South Korea's military announced. The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) detected the missiles being launched from the Sinpho area at approximately 6:10 a.m., and have since increased surveillance to monitor for any additional missile launches.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the JCS emphasized their ongoing readiness and coordination with the U.S. and Japanese militaries to share intelligence regarding North Korea's ballistic missile activities. This recent launch follows a previous incident on April 8, when North Korea executed rare dual launches of short-range ballistic missiles in one day. On the day prior to those launches, an unidentified projectile was fired by the North but failed shortly after its launch.

In response to the launches, North Korea's state media claimed a successful test-firing of a tactical ballistic missile equipped with a cluster bomb warhead, asserting its capability to obliterate any target within its range. Furthermore, Pyongyang's state media disclosed tests of an electromagnetic weapon system and the deployment of carbon fiber sham bombs while affirming the reliability of their mobile short-range anti-aircraft missile system.
