HD KSOE Secures 748.5 Billion-Won Order to Build LNG Carriers

Seoul: HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Co. (KSOE) announced on Wednesday that it has secured a significant contract worth 748.5 billion won (US$500.8 million) to construct two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers. The agreement has been made with an unnamed client based in North America, further bolstering KSOE's position in the global shipbuilding market.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the construction of these vessels will be undertaken by HD Hyundai Samho Co., a subsidiary of HD KSOE. The delivery of the LNG carriers is scheduled for completion by the latter half of 2029. This contract is a part of HD KSOE's strategic efforts to expand its portfolio and enhance its capabilities in the shipbuilding industry.

With this recent order, HD KSOE has achieved deals amounting to a total of $11.32 billion for 96 ships so far this year, marking 48.6 percent of its annual order target. The company's order backlog for the year comprises a diverse range of vessels, including 26 container ships, 14 LNG carriers, 26 petroleum product carriers, and 20 liquefied petroleum gas and ammonia carriers.
