Exports Up 65 Pct During First 20 Days of May

Seoul: South Korea's exports increased by 65 percent in the first 20 days of May compared to the same period last year, according to data released Thursday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, outbound shipments reached US$52.7 billion from May 1 to May 20, a significant rise from $31.9 billion recorded during the same period the previous year, as reported by the Korea Customs Service.

Additionally, imports during this period rose by 29.3 percent on-year, amounting to $41.6 billion. This increase in both exports and imports resulted in a trade surplus of $11 billion for South Korea during the cited timeframe.
