Pasadena: CJ Olive Young Corp., South Korea's leading health and beauty retailer, announced its plans to open its first U.S. outlet in Pasadena, California, next week, marking a significant step in the brand's global expansion strategy. The store, located in a bustling commercial district, will occupy an 803-square-meter space and offer approximately 5,000 products from around 400 beauty and wellness brands.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the company has stated that about 80 percent of the products available in the new store will be Korean brands. To stay current with the rapidly changing K-beauty trends, CJ Olive Young plans to update its product lineup at least every two weeks. Lee Sun-jeong, the head of the beauty retailer, emphasized the importance of this expansion, noting the new U.S. location as a crucial step towards establishing a global base and enhancing the presence of K-beauty and K-lifestyle in international markets.
In addition to the physical store, the company intends to launch an online shopping platform specifically for U.S. consumers. This dedicated platform aims to offer faster and more cost-effective delivery options compared to the existing global online mall. Earlier this year, the company established a 3,600-square-meter logistics center in Bloomington, California, to support both its offline stores and online customers in the U.S.
CJ Olive Young has ambitious plans to further its footprint in the United States, with intentions to open five more offline outlets over the next year. The expansion will begin on the West Coast and gradually move toward the eastern regions, including major cities like New York. This strategic growth in the U.S. market comes as the company experiences increased sales from overseas, with international customers contributing to 28 percent of its offline sales in 2025.
