Seoul: An aging overpass in Seoul undergoing removal partially collapsed Tuesday, leaving two people dead and four others injured, officials said. Parts of the Seosomun Overpass and other construction debris fell to the ground at 2:32 p.m., killing two men in their 50s and 60s.
According to Yonhap News Agency, North Korea fired multiple close-range ballistic missiles (CRBMs) and artillery rockets toward the Yellow Sea on the same day. South Korea's military reported the launches amid speculation of a potential visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to North Korea. The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) noted that the missiles were detected from the Jongju area of North Phyongan Province at around 1 p.m., though further details were not disclosed.
In other news, South Korea is advancing its plans to develop domestically built nuclear-powered attack submarines. Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back announced the goal to fuel these submarines with low-enriched uranium, aiming to launch the first vessel by the mid-2030s.
