Renault Korea’s May Sales Plunge 40% Amid Weak Demand

Seoul: Renault Korea Motors Co., the South Korean branch of France's Renault S.A., reported a significant drop in its May sales due to decreased demand in both domestic and international markets. The company announced on Monday that it sold 5,913 vehicles last month, marking a 40 percent decline compared to the same period last year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, domestic sales saw a decrease of 31.2 percent on-year, totaling 2,893 units in May. Meanwhile, overseas sales experienced a sharper fall, plummeting 46.6 percent to 3,020 units. In the domestic market, the Grand Koleos SUV emerged as the best-selling model with 1,248 units sold. For overseas markets, the top performer was the Arkana coupe-style SUV, which sold 1,308 units.

Renault Korea is taking steps to address the current market challenges by optimizing its production and shipping schedules to better navigate global market uncertainties. Additionally, the company plans to enhance its customer engagement through roadshows and test-driving events across South Korea.
