Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index saw a notable downturn, with significant declines in the closing prices of several major companies. Among the most affected were Hyundai Motor and Samsung SDI Co., Ltd., which experienced sharp drops.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Hyundai Motor's stock closed at 639,000, marking a decrease of 61,000. Similarly, Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. saw its shares fall by 65,000 to a closing value of 503,000. These declines contributed to the overall negative performance of the index.
The financial sector also faced setbacks, with KB Financial Group's shares dropping by 20,100 to close at 151,500. iM Financial Group and BNK Financial Group reported decreases of 1,100 and 1,010, respectively, with their stocks closing at 16,600 and 16,230.
In the technology sector, SK hynix and Samsung SDS experienced significant losses, with their stocks falling by 159,000 and 16,500, closing at 1,911,000 and 236,000, respectively. Additionally, DOOSAN saw a substantial decline, with its shares down by 162,000 to a closing price of 1,578,000.
Other notable decreases included SAMSUNG C and T, which fell by 52,000 to 408,500, and LG Corp., which saw a decline of 9,000, closing at 113,900. The aerospace and defense sector also faced challenges, as KOREA AEROSPACE and LIG Defense and Aerospace saw declines of 14,000 and 30,000, with their stocks closing at 125,000 and 696,000, respectively.
