Gwanghwamun Square to Host Street Cheering for South Korea’s World Cup Matches

Seoul: Gwanghwamun Square will host street cheering for South Korea's Group A matches this month at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Seoul government said Thursday. The events are scheduled for South Korea's matches against Czechia, Mexico, and South Africa, at 11 a.m. Friday, 10 a.m. June 19, and 10 a.m. June 25, respectively, according to the local government.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the city advised citizens to use public transportation to avoid rush hour when traveling to the area in central Seoul, and to prepare for hot weather by bringing umbrellas and hats. As co-hosts, the Korea Football Association, KT Corp., and the Red Devils national team supporters group will deploy safety personnel to the venue and adopt measures against medical emergencies and potential heat waves.
