Pyongyang: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has marked the 105th founding anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in a congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping, reaffirming his commitment to strengthen ties with Beijing, state media reported Wednesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Jong-un emphasized the pivotal role of the CCP in China's development, stating, "There is no new China without Communist Party." The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) quoted Kim as reflecting on his recent summit with Xi in Pyongyang, describing it as a "historic occasion" that reinforced mutual trust and a shared commitment to advancing socialist construction and traditional friendly relations.
Xi Jinping's visit to Pyongyang on June 8-9, marked his first trip to North Korea in nearly seven years. During this visit, both leaders pledged to enhance cooperation across politics, economy, and culture, aiming to open a new chapter in bilateral relations. Kim noted that the leadership of both parties guarantees the superiority of their relations, and he expressed readiness to collaborate with Xi to further their common socialist goals.
The Chinese Embassy in Pyongyang celebrated the CCP's anniversary with a banquet attended by senior North Korean officials, including Jo Yong-won and Kim Song-nam. Chinese Ambassador Wang Yajun highlighted the importance of deepening strategic communication and exchanges, describing the two nations as sharing a destiny shaped by generations of mutual support. The event also included a session on party-building experience.
