Seoul: Prime Minister Han Seong-sook on Saturday called for expanding housing options for young adults during a visit to neighborhoods near universities in Seoul. Han, who took office earlier this week, toured an area where one-room apartments and student dormitories are concentrated to assess housing conditions for young people.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Han expressed that witnessing the situation firsthand provided her with a better understanding of the challenges young people face due to high housing costs. Han emphasized the need to expand the supply of student dormitories and affordable housing for young adults.
Additionally, Han mentioned that the government should engage in discussions to quickly implement measures that could alleviate the housing burden on the youth. She also highlighted the importance of supporting young people in building their careers, stating that efforts will be made to expand work-experience programs, including youth internship opportunities.
