Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index reflected a downward trend with the majority of stocks closing at lower prices. Among the notable decliners, KIWOOM and HanmiPharm saw significant drops, closing down by 15,000 and 14,000, respectively. Other companies such as NAVER and SANIL ELECTRIC also recorded decreases, closing down by 4,100 and 9,900, respectively.
According to Yonhap News Agency, while most stocks faced declines, a few managed to end the day on a positive note. Notably, Samsung Card and KT registered gains, with Samsung Card rising by 850 and KT increasing by 1,100. Other stocks like Misto Holdings and CheilWorldwide also saw slight increases, closing up by 850 and 10, respectively.
LG HandH, LG Display, and Kakao were among the companies that experienced decreases, with LG HandH down by 1,500, LG Display by 530, and Kakao by 850. In the financial sector, WooriFinancialGroup and JB Financial Group also posted losses, down by 950 each.
The energy and materials sectors were not immune to the downturn as SK Innovation and KEPCO EandC saw declines of 4,500 and 5,700, respectively. On the other hand, Hyundai Marine Engine's share price slipped by 4,700, contributing to the overall negative sentiment in the market.
Consumer-focused companies such as AMOREPACIFIC and Lotte Wellfood also closed lower, with decreases of 7,100 and 1,000, respectively. The overall performance of the KOSPI 200 reflects a challenging trading session for many stocks.
