Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index saw a notable increase as several prominent stocks closed higher, marking a positive trading session. The index, which tracks the top 200 companies by market capitalization on the Korea Exchange, recorded gains across various sectors.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Youngone Holdings led the charge with a significant increase of 5,900, closing at 196,900. Korea Zinc followed closely, closing at 1,043,000, up by 49,000. Samsung Heavy Industries also saw a rise, closing at 23,650, an increase of 2,050.
S-Oil's share price increased by 8,100 to close at 149,800, while LG Innotek closed at 679,000, up by 32,000. Hyundai Wia and Lotte Chemical Corp also reported gains, closing at 60,000 and 62,800 respectively. Shares of HMM and kakaopay rose to 21,000 and 43,350.
SeAH Steel Holdings experienced a rise of 13,500, closing at 112,000. DWS and Hanchem also posted gains, with Hanchem increasing by 11,000 to close at 236,000. KEPCO's shares increased by 1,700, reaching 35,600, while Samsung Securities closed at 104,900 after a rise of 3,300.
Other notable increases included Hanon Systems, SK, Samsung Engineering and Construction, and SK Telecom. Shares of Hankuk Carbon, POSCO DX, and Hyundai Elevator also closed higher. SBHC and Samsung SDS recorded significant gains, closing at 36,650 and 218,000 respectively.
Kumho Tire, Korea Aerospace, Hankook and Company, and KIA Corp. also saw their stock prices rise. Lotte Chilsung, COSMO Chemical, POSCO Holdings, and GS Retail reported increases in their closing prices.
ISUPETASYS and SLCORP closed higher, while Yuhan and Samsung Electronics recorded gains, closing at 71,400 and 270,000 respectively. Dongwon Industries and NH Investment and Securities also saw their share prices increase.
GC Biopharma Corp. closed at 123,100, up by 4,400, while DB Insurance remained unchanged. Shinsegae was the only notable decliner, with its stock price decreasing by 3,000 to close at 544,000.
