Seoul: Netmarble Corp., a South Korean mobile game developer and publisher, announced a significant increase in its second-quarter net profit, reaching 203.9 billion won (US$143.1 million). This marks a 27.3 percent rise compared to the same period last year.
According to Yonhap News Agency, despite the impressive growth in net income, the company's operating profit for the April-June period experienced a decline. It decreased by 20.8 percent from the previous year, amounting to 80.1 billion won. However, the company's revenue showed an increase of 4.4 percent, totaling 749.2 billion won.
The reported earnings surpassed market expectations. Analysts had anticipated a net profit average of 162.4 billion won, as per a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data subsidiary of Yonhap News Agency.
