Seoul: North Korea is reportedly preparing to deploy an additional 30,000 to 50,000 troops to assist Russia in its ongoing conflict with Ukraine, as revealed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy shared this information on Sunday through a post on X, referencing his comments made during an interview on the United News telethon.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is currently probing the circumstances under which a North Korean remote information technology worker secured employment at a U.S. federal agency. This investigation highlights the increasing security risks associated with North Korea's IT worker scheme targeting the U.S. government sector. Todd Hemmen, deputy assistant director of the FBI's Cyber Capabilities Branch, disclosed at a forum last month that the FBI has recently identified this North Korean remote IT staffer working within the U.S. federal government.
Additionally, a joint statement was issued by South Korea, the United States, Japan, and 37 other countries, urging nations to provide advance notice for launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs), and space launch vehicles (SLVs). This statement follows China's unexpected SLBM launch into the Pacific on July 6, which prompted criticism from the U.S. and other countries, although the statement refrained from explicitly naming China.
