Trump Highlights Alaska’s Oil and Pipeline Projects Involving South Korea and Japan

Seoul: U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that South Korea, Japan, and other countries are engaging with Alaska to "load up with oil and build pipelines," as he underscored his support for the state in the lead-up to the November midterm elections. According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump made these remarks during a press availability at the White House while mentioning Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK), who is seeking reelection. Trump emphasized his contributions to Alaska, claiming substantial investments and the creation of significant value. He highlighted the involvement of international partners like Japan and South Korea in Alaska's energy projects, including the construction of pipelines and the exportation of oil. The Trump administration has been advocating for cooperation with South Korea, Japan, and other nations on an Alaska liquefied natural gas (LNG) project. This initiative aims to construct a 1,287-kilometer pipeline from the North Slope, which possesses extensive proven natural gas rese rves, to southern Alaska. The objective is to transport natural gas that will be converted to liquid form for shipment to Asia.
