Paris: Samsung Electronics Co. announced its partnership with French artificial intelligence startup Mistral AI to enhance its semiconductor operations. The collaboration was revealed during a summit between South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung will integrate Mistral AI's services and solutions into its semiconductor operations to develop customized AI models for on-premise use. Mistral AI, established in 2023 by former employees of Google's DeepMind and Meta, has developed large language models, including Mistral Large, which Samsung plans to employ in its processes.
Samsung anticipates that Mistral AI's platform will improve the design and manufacturing of semiconductors as production processes become more advanced. Jun Young-hyun, vice chairman and head of Samsung's semiconductor division, emphasized the need for continuous innovation in semiconductor technologies due to the increasing complexities in AI chip design and manufacturing.
The electronics giant aims to leverage targeted AI models to accelerate development cycles, enhance manufacturing precision, and stabilize yields for advanced memory chips, marking a strategic move in its semiconductor operations.
